Ah, so Israel had to improve on the Ottoman "history" of land management? It merely means that the inference that Israel went around confiscating private property in order to own so much land is false. Now I think they should have privatized more of it, but Israel was founded by socialists. From what little history I know, the Ottoman empire sort of dissolved after WWI, somewhat before Israel came into existence. Before the state came into existence. But not before the Yishuv came into existence. Petakh Tikva was founded in 1888. Tel Aviv was founded in 1906. The Arabs keep telling everybody that Israel happened because the Jews were "given" it in 1948. Israel happened because by 1948, the Zionists had already spent over 60 years buying, building and fighting for it.
