Joefromspringfield,

Based on having read a large number of Dr. James posts on a "healthy living" message board, I would say that he was VERY serious in what he wrote about Bob Brinker Sr.

I don't recall ever reading anything he wrote and thinking he was joking or had "tongue in cheek."

So your specialist friend is qualified to diagnose both carcinoma and Parkinson's from afar? Great. Gossip and idle chatter among friends is one thing--diagnosing a stranger you've never met and then announcing your conclusions on the internet as "senility" is bashing.

<<I have a friend who is a retired doctor. One day we were playing golf. He said to another doctor in the foursome "Don't you think William Rehnquist has anaplastic carcinoma.">>

--Hi basher! As queen has said, it's one thing for a doctor to "diagnose" on a golf course--it's quite another to do it on a public message board.

<<As to Brinker I am sure you have noticed that callers will start out by giving him a series of facts. He will then ask the caller a question that was already covered when the caller laid out the facts. This behavior is evident on Moneytalk just about every show. I have been wondering about this for a while. It could be something as simple as a hearing problem. But their are many other possibilities such as ADD ADHD, Alzheimer's senility etc.>>

--Yes, I have noticed that too. He has been doing it ever since I started listening to him in 1993. It's called "not paying attention."

No one who listens to the show could possibly seriously believe that Brinker is senile or becoming senile.

The "doctor" was just throwing out a gratuitous insult. But, that is what bashers do!

Bob has 1.75 listeners according to Talker Magazine.

Brinker may not be in the "Heavy Hundred" talkers.com but his audience size is still listed at 1.75M (the same as the 2005 and 2006 survey results.)

2007 Talkers Magazine Talk Host Survey.

Howard Stern tied for third place with Michael Savage in 2005 with an estimated audience of 8.75 million, but he is not included on the 2006 and 2007 list because of his move to satellite radio.

What did Bob say about the "shirtless" last weekend? Do you think they are the 1.75 million that listen to his show or the people who decide who makes the "heavy 100?"
