What's your point? Intel's R&D allows it to try many projects that never go anywhere. Give that R&D money to AMD, and you'll see AMD still in the business of flash, microcontrollers, communications, etc. Not only that, but they'd probably go and purchase many other companies besides ATI.

All you are doing is picking-n-choosing one success story at AMD, then assuming that you can throw money at that success story and multiply it by ten.
