The political stability has resulted in an out of control patronage system. The current growth in government spending is unsustainable. It will be a surprise if our nation does not disintegrate within a hundred years. Breaking into smaller countries has some advantages. If they were wise they wold maintain close ties, but ideology might not allow that. The Law of the Sea Treaty needs to go the way of the dinosaur. The UN is so corrupt that giving them any more power is an idea with great downside potential.
