We need to learn to how to deal with people's lazyness, greed and dishonesty and still dispense compassion. "Common Law" handles the dishonesty. "Dispensing compassion" sounds like the arrogant thing a "Liberal" would try to do. Ya gonna do it in a robe with a Miter?
