But at 40 times earnings it breaks when it falls.

Realistically about the best you can hope for is to be in cash when the big Kahuna hits, which it will. To make money as a short you not only have to time your entry and exit correctly (and your exit if you're wrong), you have to be constantly looking over your shoulder in any significant correction worrying about the Fed cutting. They have a variety of reasons they can run out, but in the end they're Wall Street's lackies. When the Fed cuts don't work any more will be the real time to be short...
