You want to read really harsh criticism of Israel, the kind that is based on real shortcomings? Go read the Israeli press. Israelis are not deficient in the art of self-criticism. The Arabs, who are starting from a different place and have even greater need, seem culturally unable to give or take self-criticism. Blame always has to go onto the "other." The result of believing that it's totally someone else's fault, however, is that you can't begin to identify or fix your own problems.
