It holds no water. The only people who can get elected to WH are those who can collect $100+ mill from their super wealthy buddies. Then the public gets to choose one of the pre-screened candidates. It is a nice rig and fundamentally no different than the "Experts Assembly" in Iran pre-qualifying the candidates so that only those with impeccable loyalty to the regime can get elected. They do it explicitly. We are smarter and do it behind the scenes. But the essence of it is the same. Nobody who want to rock the apple cart may ever come to power.
