....I caught a monster, the fish I was looking for, the only bite of the tournament, over the 24" lake fork slot maybe 26"? I was fishing my 8' Shimano Crucial rod with Calais reel with 15lb fluorocarbon line. I caught her on a 10" Berkley powerworm black shad color, she was hooked good I almost pulled her in the boat as I had her head out of the water, but feared I'd break the line so I reeled in alittle more so I could reach down and lip this monster bass...that's when she shook that big tail and snapped the line like it was nothing right at the boat!<g> I think it was 10.5 lbs but may have been 11? It was huge! Not many fish were caught over the 24" slot. A 9lb 7oz bass won $600 and a new 20' Skeeter bassboat and a 200hp yamaha motor.......well, what more can be said? Literally a game of inches at times? I did have a shot at her! Not the story I wanted to share?<g>

moral: never hunt really big bass with anything less than 20lb line!......personally, I love 65lb braid!

On to 2day Regionals next week, I just need to make the top 30 cut the first day, I hope they're biting? Then I get to hunt big bass again at the Nationals in FLA. I hope? NO LIGHT LINE!
