TJ, you are obviously ignorant and confused about New Zealand. The Europeans arrived and obtained land by trade. Maoris obtained land by conquest, murder, enslavement and cannibalism.

China walked in, uninvited, and took possession of Tibet, killing the opposition.

Where land was taken under the Public Works Act without due recognition of native title and the Treaty of Waitangi, said land was returned or compensation given. Sometimes Maoris who did not have clear title sold land and there are disputes in those instances. In conflict with Tainui tribes long after the Treaty, the government confiscated land as punishment, which was declared by courts to be contrary to Treaty rules, with compensation paid.

Not all minglings and conquests are equal. China invading Tibet was outright conquest. Genghis invading everywhere was outright murder. Germany invading was outright genocide of Jews. Japan invading China was slightly different from China invading Tibet, but comparable. Yet you whine about Japan repossessing something they used to own before moving to Japan.

British signing up with Maoris was for mutual benefit. Maoris got the better deal when viewed from now. We now have an apartheid regime with Maoris as the anointed. The rest of us are second-class humans. As everywhere, apartheid is not a good idea. It's ironic that NZ was so against apartheid in South Africa, while bringing it in here.
