But the same doesn't apply to guns?

The difference is that everybody who wants them already has them, as opposed to nukes, where the club was very tiny at the beginning.

BTW, I am not against regulations of who and under what circumstances can purchase a gun. For example, I would be for a law saying that anybody ever convicted of a felony could never purchase or posses a gun. Anybody with mental illness, on mood altering drugs, convicted of drunk driving should never have a gun, drug use or possession. Just a few off the top of my head.
