I don't know of any Republican politicians that let a personal friend die and if it happened they certainly wouldn't remain in office for another thirty plus years.

Personally? No.

It is the nature of humans to behave badly occasionally.

Of course Republicans are included in that category.

Republicans who behave badly are usually drummed out. I can cite a number of cases where the person committed objectionable offenses and suffered the consequences. None of these were capital crimes or even felonies that I know of.

I can cite a similar number of cases of Democrats who committed worse offenses and are still in office.
