The arabs got the short end of the stick from the europeans. But they cant be anti-europe and succeed so israel became their scapegoat. Is israel totally innocent? Of course not. Certainly there were some unscrupulous deals re: land and certainly by oxymoron, unscrupulous pols. But it tne end it was the stupidity of the arabs fighting partition in 47 that lost most of the land and then their provocation in june of 67 that caused preemption that lost them the rest. Now 40 years post 67 a deal needs to be crafted that is based on 67 borders, if only because israel couldnt find a viable alternative to include these folks in greater israel. But as i have said, exact 67 borders are not going to be the solution. Sharing Jerusalem is important as in net land being given back approximately equalling net land removed in 67. Its something that both israelis and pals need to get over. It doesnt matter if its fair from a 1947 perspective--its too late for that.

As you said... major double dealings all around and the arabs got the short end of the stick.

How, exactly, did the Arabs get the short end of the stick? Look at what actually happened. So the Arabs didn't get 100% of their desires, so what, who did? Did the Jews? Did the Druze? Did the Kurds? Did the Copts? Did anybody?

Look at what the Arabs came away with! Look at how they got to keep their oil revenue. If the Brits had found and developed the oil well of Arabia in an earlier century, would that have happened?
