RR,

Ask clappy about his coaching successes. He's creating life-long positive memories for a number of kids, and gets to enjoy himself in the process. What could be better than that?

Good to see you RR. You always breathe a bit of life into this ol' Porch.

How's the life plan? Knowing that you set it a couple of years ago, tell me something significantly positive, big guy.

The plan is still somewhat intact. Thanks for the reminder.

I'm taking flying lessons. I soloed in July and take the plane up by myself now. With the leaves changing colors here, the scenery while flying is utterly amazing. The view is like climbing to the top of a mountain and looking out. But then you look down and realize there is no mountain below you. Just air.

I just love it.

At times I get discouraged and think to myself, perhaps there is something else I should be focusing on. But then within a week I get a very strong urge to be back up in the air flying again. Right now it is all I can think about.

Eventually I's like to get a tail dragger type of plane that I can use to fly into the back country. I'd like to get an older/used Maule or perhaps a SuperCub. Use it to land on grass strips, or maybe fit it with floats to fly to hidden lakes and ponds.

It's all in the dream stage now.

I'm still coaching my son and the football team. We are undefeated so far at 5-0. I enjoy the heck out it.

...now if I could only say I enjoy work as much as the above, I'd really have something profound to tell you. At times I really hate everything about the job.

With the midlife crisis taking root, I seriously look at how much time I've wasted NOT doing something I love.

Then I spend the rest of the time trying to figure out what I would switch my career to and realize I really don't have a clue. Ideally, I think I'd make a good teacher or perhaps a writer. But don't have the funds or time to go back to school. So I dunno how to attack this. I just sit back worrying that I let another day go by wasted. Been doing this for years now. Don't know what to do.

Otherwise, still counting my blessings and loving my family and hobbies.
