Read the accounts of Marines in Fallujah. They noted it many times, especially mujahadeen who would would cry out "doctor, doctor" and then explode a grenade when approached. When the fuss was kicked up over the filming of a Marine who shot a wounded prisoner, the Marines noted what the Marine was saying: "He's faking dead! He's faking dead!"
