There are indeed similar trends of wealth-concentration in advanced economies in general. There's a really great video from an outfit that has invented some very cool database software, but neither the name nor the link come to mind. Hopefully someone else has seen it and can link it. They showed UN data from the last 4 decades about most of the countries of the world and what has been happening with "stratification" and how many broadly held truths just plain weren't true too... and I just remembered it as I was typing.
