I don't know how much our library costs me in taxes personally, but whatever it is it's worth it.

I just stopped at a book sale there and got three hard back for $1.

From Here to Eternity, by James Jones

A Distant Mirror, by Barbara Tuchman (a history of the calamitous 14th Century)

On Language, by Edwin Newman. Newman nails just about every politician, journalist, scholar, and everyone who writes and speaks gobbledygook. He complained about doublespeak and useless words. The book was written during the Watergate era, so many of the references are about Nixon and those around him, but no one is spared. "Y'know?" That's one Hillary Clinton uses in every sentence. It made Newman's list, but Hillary escaped being nailed because it was before her time.
