Bob, a coupla anecdotes: After the Thomas confirmation two WSJ reporterettes quit to write a book about him. I'm fairly certain they were thoroughly edumacated. In citing his his strict constructionist and classically liberal views, they were astounded that anyone could subscribe to such nonsense. Another time Walter Williams was sitting in for Rush. By me, Williams is one of the most charming, literate, and able conveyors of economic analysis. Anyway, the caller was well-spoken and I assume had spent years in school. He laughed and assumed that Williams was just doing his shtick for a paycheck. It's rooted not just in the 60's, but in a deep-seated, evil preponderance of no-goodniks in our educational system.
