The military situation is now stalemated and the battle for Greater Israel, stretching from the Euphrates to the Nile, is a myth which is unlikely to be achieved except in story books. Meanwhile, the costs to all concerned have been enormous and I persistently argue that from a simple cost-benefit point of view the Zionist project has been a waste of time, certainly since 1967. They should have made peace then and given the Palestinians their piece of the real-estate. But political opportunists and religious crazies prevented this -- as they are still doing.
