You are now saying because he was a three star general - even though he was in charge of the Iraq operation, that his thinking and suggestions to Bush didn't count? Didn't count when Bush told the American public he would do whatever the generals in the field ask?

When the war started he was a 2 star general commanding the 1st Armored Division in Germany.

The nature of soldiers is to do what they are told to do - period!

I tend to agree up to where you said "- period!"

American Commanding Officers are taught and are expected to state their positions and opinions clearly and unequivocally. Indeed they are expected to argue their positions vociferously...until a decision has been made. Only at that point are they expected to support the decision.

Hogwash! We spend as much as the rest of the world combined on our military. To suggest we didn't spend enough is complete nonsense. More and more and more money, doesn't make a military better - it just makes it bigger. Your thinking will bankrupt America.

Keep arguing your point. You might be winning. Go ahead support the Clintons and their dismantling of our armed forces. When we refuse to defend ourselves as Clinton did repeatedly; and/or when we can no longer defend ourselves; and/or win our wars; neither you nor I nor anyone else will have to pay any taxes to maintain the US Army.

There is only one small difference between your opinion and mine.
You consider a weak or no army a utopian paradise. I consider it a nightmare.
