sounds like under our pay for system and medicaid for those who cannot afford it or transfer all their wealth before i believe four years of entering a nursing home get medicaid. the families keep the assets.. Most feel it is a federal obligation to provide nursing home care vs use up mom and dad's money they would get later so grab it now. if now they were in a social program i wonder if they would receive the care we presently provide if we assume everyone gets free nursing home. Would be in the same situation as some of those eu countries who cannot provide the numbers of homes or staff to care for the sick.
