What about decoupling the Hong Kong Dollar from the US Dollar ?

If you want to play by buying real estate, which means you (or the next buyer) is short HKD / USD Debt and long real estate.

Any chance that the HKD - USD link would break when the Euro is $1.80 ? How about at $2.10, with the US Dollar worth half what is today and the Euro about 20% less ? That would mean about $150 for oil. Gold should be considerably higher, but might peak early on a speculative run.

After that very low USD excursion, I expect the USD will start moving back up, and if the HKD is still tied to the USD, that will mean real estate will be heading down.
