I was at a wine-tasting the other night, conducted by a very bright young guy who has a graduate degree in business from NYU (I think it was) as well as a B.A. from Dartmouth, and who is qualified as a French sommelier. His specialty is Burgundies. At one point in an aside he mentioned that he had waited a few days before placing an order recetly, and this has cost him something like $2,000 on a $80,000 order, and then he said something about how "our government seems to intend to drive down the dollar." The store owner jokingly called out "No politics!"

I had planned not to buy anything (the tasting itself cost $25), but before it was over I convinced myself that it made perfect sense to buy a case of a Beaune as a dollar hedge <G>.
