Anyone catch Nova last night. Absolutely fascination stuff. Epigenetics - the system that turns genes on and off. It's brand new stuff and it's revolutionary. It's how genetically identical twins can sometimes turn out so differently.

They are finding that your environment can effect how your genes are expressed and also (and this is mind blowing ), things you experience can affect your children, and even your grandchildrens' health because your epigenetic system has a memory.

Watson found the structure that is part of the secret of life, but it's turning out DNA is only a small part of the total picture. It is totally naive for Watson to make inferences about a population's genes without accounting for what that population's parents and grandparents experienced ( famine, chemicals, stress ) in ways we only dimly now understand.
