Huge spec position in gold could mean 2 scenarios:

1) A large drop for gold as they exit.
2) Sharply rising gold price as they take delivery.

More often we should have (1). Gold sure got a lot of positive
momentum here, and who knows where it will stop. It's over
the 760 barrier, and it could fly all the way to 800 before
a reversal. That would be bad for the dollar. If they can
take it down to the stop levels of the specs, it will drop
fast.

Looks like we are having an increase in risk aversion without a negative impact on the gold price

i'm with your logic, but i think it is too early to say
