I’ve read that breast feeding has numerous benefits to the child provided the mother is healthy. Food allergies though have become epidemic and no one is exactly sure why.

I was involved in a company during the 80's involved in studies regarding that and it was proven that the colostrum in breast milk the first few days after birth was especially important towards the child's immunities.

There is also the theory that children who are breast-fed do better at avoiding allergies and other diseases.
