That's usually the case and applies here as well
But looking at time frames might be helpful.

Bubble took 3-4? years to construct
The wealth created spread worldwide, many parts still not peaking in growth as a direct result of the housing boom.
It will take many years, 5-10 at least, for the excess to wring out. HBs will need to languish for many years as well. At least trading more like they used to, flat with an occasional dividend.
