"They are Muslims from Kosovo. They said 9/11 was God's will right after it happened."

Many Christians believe that everything that happens is also God's will, and that it's not always possible for us to divine it's purpose. Which would include 9/11.

I'm an agnostic most times, so, I guess we're cousins.

"I would deport or lock up someone who is planning this PERIOD."

I wouldn't. I would watch them. If they are serious, at some point they will try to get in contact with people who can actually hatch a viable scheme. It is the ones who can pose a danger you want. Not just the bullshitters. If you go after the bullshitters, the dangerous ones know to hide even deeper.

"They said 9/11 was God's will right after it happened."

Don't know the context. But, to a Muslim, everything is God's will, especially bad events. Without knowing more, it is hard to say what was meant. I doubt seriously if a Kosovar Muslim is going to track with al Qeada.

"You are giving people the benefit of the doubt, when it is not deserved. "

Maybe. But, here is my point. I am good at detecting patterns, especially when there is very little information. However, sometimes there aren't patterns to detect. So I force myself to wait and see if some additional information supports said pattern before concluding it exists. Because anything else is inviting madness.

Nash's story haunts me.

So, the point being is give them the benefit of the doubt. If things seems suspicious, then keep an eye on them and see what develops. It is a fine line, but factors must be balanced. We are in real danger of evolving into a police state. And what is the point of that?

"I want American Muslims to stand up and renounce Wahabbism. They will not."

I agree. This is an important first step for them.

"There is a lot of hatred for America in the world."

I don't agree. There has been a lot of envy in the past. But we had moral authority. Which did breed resentment. But, in the end, most trusted us to be able to act as a mediator and solve problems that benefited the parties in question and often with no benefit to us.

We've lost that. We are poorer as a result.

"Are you Muslim? I am an atheist. "

Me? Not hardly. I am a Pastafarian.
