One side or the other of the same slice of white bread." koan: with all due respect my friend, nothing could be further from the truth. The author is dead wrong. The difference between the Democrat's and Republian's is a story of two completely different populations of thinkers. The foundation and vast majority of the Republican party are fundamental Christians. Very few far right Christains in the Democratic party. Christian's in the Democratic party are usually quiet Christians or Unitarians-lol, which are sort of like Bahai i.e. they respect all spirtual faiths. The personalities are very different. Over 1/2 of the Republican presidential candidates do not believe in evolution and none believe in gay marriage, or gay's life style believeing it is chosen. Which is nuts-lol. All of the democratic presidential candidates believe in evolution, gay marriage, and public financing of campaigns, even if some feel they cannot admit it (because of right wing pressure) and talk civil marriage. Remember many believe GW won (in Ohio) the last election by demogauging the gay marriage issue. Ultimately the Americans are responsible for falling for the neo cons tricks, but the neo cons are brillant at divide and concour politics, using fear as their main tool, and have kept the Democrats on the run i.e not allowing them to speak the truth. Because the Americn people heretofore, have been pretty stupid falling for the neo con's propaganda and crazy ideas. The only real solution is public financing of campaigns, which the democrats keep trying to get, but are always blocked by Republican's who carry water for the large corporations. I have followed the political personalities very closly for 40 years and am always struck by people thinking there is no difference. It is as clear as day and night (good metaphore too-lol), one just needs to examine it. Last, for example, H clinton voted to give GW the right to invade Iraq becasue she felt at the time to not vote for it meant she could never run for prsident. Now one can fault her for this, but remember 71% of the people were for it and hysterical about things after 9/11. During the Viet Nam Tonkin Gulf war vote only two senators , Wayne Morse of Oregon, and Earnest Gruening of Alaska, voted agaisnt the tonkin gulf resolution. Both lost their susequent elections. This history was not lost on H Clinton.
