Need to substitute for cheaper produce from Wal-Mart where they gas their meats and produce to make them appear fresher. Good thing the Fed doesn't hedonically adjust the lower prices for produce on the shelf past their normal sell-by date.

..here in south jersey where we have a fair amount of dairy farms..milk went from $2 to the present $4.30..and that's at the most competitive supermarket..

The best price I've seen here (Australia) for 2 litres (just over half gallon) is $A2.69 = $US2.42. We don't have 4 litre milk containers :)
