"But that depravity is selectively highlighted, exaggerated, or hidden by the US media, as it suits a geopolitical objective of United States."

The US media is diverse, with many voices, many influences, and with no central oversight from government, business, or other source. There is no unified "geopolitical objective" forwarded that I can tell, unless one watches Faux news 24/7. A broad glance at the press would reveal that they are often at odds with each other, present conflicting opinions, etc. A media that aligns itself with some geopolitical objective could only exist within a state controlled media, name your country.

Wait, I forget, there is one source of news that was historically funded by the government, National Public Radio. It also happens to be considered one of the most liberal, most critical, and at times borderline subversive sources of news in the country, lol.

"Often exposed and available only when they do not matter any more..."

Sometimes yes. The flow of information isn't immediate. But mostly timely, and furthermore, the honors always go to the reporter who can break the story first. In that way information flow is rewarded.
