A. Schulman rejects offer to sell itself for inadequate price, continues to seek suitors

AKRON, Ohio (AP) -- Plastics and resin maker A. Schulman Inc. on Tuesday said it rejected a buyout offer put forth during the summer as "inadequate."

The company said its financial adviser, UBS, identified potential partners and an offer to purchase the company was put forth. But its board "concluded the offer was inadequate."

Schulman said although it "left the door open for an improved offer, the other party declined that opportunity."

The company said it will continue to pursue strategic options, including a possible sale or merger and potential acquisitions.

In morning trading, A. Schulman shares slipped 20 cents to $15.16.
