It seems quite odd to me too (at the very least) but there has been no announcement of changes in the NYSE methodology in their news releases or anywhere else I checked either.

I'm not saying that there isn't something going on behind the scenes, just that I don't have a strong opinion one way or the other. I'm very slightly leaning to it being true, based on both the general madness of crowds concept and that so few folk have a real understanding of actual inflation numbers.
