Well, considering February is the Dead of Winter and except for smoking and salting there was no means to preserve food then and most tribes were hunter gatherers not farmers I can agree with that. But, I would remind you that were it not for the Indians the first Pilgrims would likely have starved to death their first winter and in general their Indian "friends" were far healthier then the ones from the Mayflower. Incidentally, my friends daughter married a descendant of the Mayflower group. jdn
