Unless your in your 90's, Peak Oil will "come to pass" long before your dead. Check out production numbers from the EIA. There's a reason WTIC is up eightfold in a decade, and it has nothing to do with conspiracies or black helicopters. And organizing a civilization around the prospect of endless cheap energy is a foolish way to do things, but we did and we're stuck. Not such a complicated concept, but some folks don't get it.

And this clown Kunstler is one of the worst of the extremes- that self-aggrandizing smugness that flatly dismisses any contrary view as being ignorant, greedy, on-the-take, or hopelessly stupid. He's been lolling around in Saratoga for years trying to impose his personal architectural tastes on the rest of the world, and blaming the demise of western civilization on Walmart, all in an annoyingly condescending tone reeking of cocktail parties and academic salons. I'm sorry, the guy makes me puke.
