This is one way to get rid of excess
"Natural" catastrophe, just like famine and plaques on overpopulation.
But does sand even burn? Are homes in Phoenix and Vegas insured against destruction from dermabrasion?

there are no doubt a few owners who will get bailed out by this on their structures. but all the insurers have to do is rebuild the structure, and if i understand the Clownifornia markets correctly most of the "value" is tied up in the land. unless several hundred K homes are condemned i wonder what this could really do to help the housing bubble.

on the other hand, it will certainly delay closings and sales. i bet SD sales between now and end of the year are less than one week of 2005 peak sales.
