They might, but the sheeple put 'em in because they don't want change. Certainly not in the "Happy motoring" fantasy.....

Like it or not, the government is a mirror of the nation. We haven't had meaningful change (or seen the progress they've had in some countries-Germany in particular)-with altherntives. Furthermore, alternative energy will help with electrical generation but does nothing substantial for liquid fuels and transportation, which is the central problem Kunstler rails against. That will take true political leadership, of which we're sorely lacking....
