1) Anyone heard from Ramsey Su in the San Diego area ?

2) The 1 million evacuated is a cumulative estimate, several 100k people were allowed to go back to their homes in a number of areas, mostly closer to the ocean. San Diego has lots of steep canyons (arroyos) and isolated flat areas, so that there is often only one or two roads in or out of an area, (often runnning the same general direction) which in more typical terrain would 5 or 6 roads in different directions.

3) Some winds have now reversed, and are blowing from the west.

4) Saw a preliminary report that the tourist town of Julian was hit very hard, "all of downtown except for the school" burned.

Julian's downtown is a little bit spread out.

5) Estimated containment dates for some of these fires are October 28 (Sunday) and October 31....
