That's why I though out the 'head fake' topic. Iran could end up with a bomb but for what benefit? Negligible if any.

Suppose tomorrow knowledge spreads through the Persian Gulf that Iran does have a bomb, thus effectively rendering themselves safe from direct US attack. You think this won't change the decision-making of every Arab state in the region?

I am not following what you think iran will do with a bomb. To me whether its by design or not, it turns the shiaa arc into a a straight jacket for the arab states sans syria.
I always thought however that iranians nukes were really a reaction to the possiblity that pakistan becomes a sunni islamic state with al quaeda presence. Sunni islamist are far more hateful of the shiaa than shiaa are of sunnis. (i think). Thats a real danger for iran. But by going nuke they just radicalize the sunni arabs and make the outcome they fear more possible. Dont you agree that israel has little to do with the real reasons for iran nukes.
Some folks here seem to think its balance of power with israel when its nothing of the sort/
