If you want democratic, safe, stable etc., Denmark and Germany are also options, but people's native language isn't English.

Americans tend to go for England or other English speaking countries.

Anyway, if you want to spend your retirement in a place, living costs may be a significant factor. I'm not sure Norway is a good place for that - I think a beer in a bar costs more than $7, maybe more than $10.

In Denmark, a car is taxed about 200%, making it 3 times as expensive as the factory bills you. However, health care is free and good.

WOW... Thanks RJ, quite a brief!!

From what I understand HK has to much pollution....NZ sounds good, the isolation would help in times of trouble. Switzerland I've been to and love the people and the beauty of the the country. So i guess I'm leaning there..
