No, I meant the market in general. Cisco usually moves with the market (albeit in wider swings...beta>1). But it does look like Cisco's held up pretty well this time around.

More importantly for most of us though is the broader market. I personally believe that when the market is volatile like it is now and it usually is when it is transitioning from one phase of the business cycle to the next (boom to bust to boom), that is exactly the time when most people get scared and sell or stop investing as much. The smarter thing to do would be to continue with the deductions from your bi-weekly paycheck and continue to invest into your diversified portfolio to take advantage of dollar cost averaging when the market swings low. That is a great way to get above market returns. I'm up 12% this year so far. I love it. That's not bad considering all the fear over the sub-prime mess and slowing economy. And yet, this year I have not altered my portfolio mix, nor the amount I invest every two weeks. That's what any financial planner will tell you. Stick with it, be consistent, don't panic, don't time the market.
