Don't be silly, ch. Of course it was designed. Every other refugee population on earth is served by UNHCR. UNHCR defines refugees as having lived at least 20 years in a place before they fled. The mission of UNHCR is to repatriate or resettle the refugees in some reasonable time period. But the Palestinians have their own special UN agency, UNWRA. UNWRA defines you as a refugee even if you only lived for 2 years in the place you fled from. The mission of UNWRA is to feed and house the refugee population indefinitely pending final resolution of the conflict. So you have generational "refugee camps" with children, grandchilden, greatgrandchilden - all entitled to UNWRA stipends - added to the total refugee population. And you think was just "allowed to happen"? Ha. It was designed. And here's the beauty part of the arrangement: The Arabs who arranged it, don't have to pay a penny for these perpetual refugees. They are paid for by UN funds! Your taxes and mine, and Europe's, go to pay for this fine arrangement.Could israel really have been so stupid ,gullible, and dumb as to fall into such a prelaid trap? The answer is yes. First, they did not forsee using the UN (which was brand new at the time) to not only create, but lock in such an inhumane arrangement in perpetuity. It didn't occur to the Israelis or the British until too late that the Arabs intended to do this. They just couldn't forsee being so cruel to their own people. Third, even if the Israelis had forseen it, there was very little they could have done about it; they were completely swamped with Jewish refugees. Once it was locked in, neither Britain nor Israel nor the US could shift it without the consent of the UN General Assembly or the Arab countries. Naturally they will never give their consent. There have been many attempts to negotiate compensation and naturalization for the refugees; they have all failed. The arrangement is working very well, as far as the Arab states are concerned.
