well, I think scalabitlity might not be so much of an issue for ramtron right now - I still assume that process engineering might take them down to the 90nm node and that they might shrink on the 130 or 90nm still the cell size from around 40F^2 to something below and to increase utilization ...

anyway for most of the devices ramtron fabs right now there is now real need - if they just go with the 256kBit device down to what the TI process offers then they will end up with a device of only something around 500+ um side length - and as logic might be an issue - keep in mind that you can already implement around 50kgates/mm^2 on a 130nm node and if they would go to 90nm around 130kgates/mm^2 - in comparision to what they need for the digital logic of the versa mcu I would assume not much more than some 10kgates) there is realy no need for higher density in this market segment ...

If we talk about the two-digit MBit range you are quite rigt - so for me on an operative basis scalabitlity might be a realy nice "addon" in case of a "sale" - but not the major issue of a buyer ...

anyway - if we talk about buying - my first guess would be a buyout by TI ;) (that's normaly the way when something gets successful (inhouse) - consolidate it as far as you can ...)
