housing problem is a bit different. It is similar to overbuilt telecom of dot com bubble era. Since it is overbuilt, only way out is firesale. But securitizing mortgages will make financial system very vulnerable to severe homeprice plunge

I bet if auctions are held and no reserve sales are made, bldg inventories will disappear. ( there are ~2 mil empty homes)

dollar is more complicated by the deficit issue. Hedge fund pimps are pouring money in the emerging market/gold etc..and why not since dollar cash is getting junk status..

if unsettled, this whole thing will CRASH..
