"I am beginning to think the only answer is to speed the destruction of our government. The people have discovered they have the keys to the treasury and have no intention of relinquishing them."

Actually... I thought that was the genius of the Constitutional government our founders devised --- it includes several ways for the people to FORCE change.

(A kind of 'institutionalized revolution'. Thomas Jefferson actually believed that some sort of 'revolution' would be *required* every generation of so --- else our nation would fail and fall. That's was why three different methods for amending the Constitution were prescribed. We have simply fallen down on the job... and allowed the politicians and bureaucrats to keep us diverted and divided for too long....)

"The prospect of a saving Balanced Budget Constitutional Amendment seems remote at best."

More 'remote' then any other solution with anything like the same chance of providing for such a comprehensive and effective solution?

Perhaps the public simply needs problems to finally come to a head --- get so bad that there is a sense of crisis... and inaction is no longer an options serious people consider....
