Any reports to substantiate that flash based MP3 players (i.e. nano) are more reliable than hard drive versions?

Anectdotally, of the 5 HD iPods that have been in my immediate family, 4 have had HD failures. 2 of those were replaced under warranty and continue to work. OTOH, I don't know anyone that has broken a Nano.
