Personally though, I am not so willing to discount the inherent wisdom and basic sense of 'right and wrong' of the American people.

If they thought increasing taxes, and increasing the size of government was so wrong, why did they let it happen?

Sorry to say this... but those are words I'd expect to hear from the mouth of the typical Big Government enabler and 'New Speak' apologist... ('deficits don't really matter... 'this time it's different'... 'just disregard all previous human experience with economics, monetary inflation, etc.'

I didn't say deficits don't matter, or that anything is different about this time. I said you overestimate the harm they (deficits that are moderate to small compared to the GDP, in a situation where GDP growth is greater than the deficit) cause. That's not disregarding all previous human experience with economics, that's applying the lessons of human experience with economics.
