I read the original story in Outside years ago, later became the book, I just don't like the kid very much.

Saw the preview months ago and I don't much like the kid in the movie either.

Whole thing seems terribly self-indulgent to me.

From what my friend said I thought I would hate the kid, and feel sorry for the parents- even bad parents have my sympathy when the self destruction of a child is involved.
