signs that the fall of the dollar is starting to help

Same question I just asked GST applies - Isn't there a de facto peg between the Chinese and US currencies? If the currencies were allowed to float, the prices of Chinese goods would go up, and their sales - go down, and we here, inevitably, would experience stronger inflation in prices of many goods.

Agree that an introduction of a value added (consumption) tax and a decrease in the general income tax would be a good idea.

I also agree that there is every reason to be optimistic about America's future in the long term. But, yes, it might be a rough ride until we get to that positive longer term situation...

Haim suggested that we can sell "FOOD" to the Chinese. Nothing wrong with that... American agriculture is superb. It is also true that since so much of valuable property is these days intellectual in nature, a decrease in its piracy by the Chinese should help the US.

China will have to cut its gargantuan savings rate

I understand that their inflation rate is increasing. This may cure them of the excessive savings habit pretty quickly.
