I've never been an early adopter, but...

I have seen how it can make people money (Allen) so I may have to start doing it in the future. Seems like it makes buying toys like the iPhone profitable because you learn everything first then hire out your knowledge.<<

Not offended at all, of course. The main reason I'm an early adopter, with respect to software, is just because that's the kind of guy I am. I really like upgrading and finding new features in my software. I feel confident enough in my ability to troubleshoot whatever problems may arise, and just don't see it as such a big deal if there are little glitches here and there.

And yes, the knowledge I gain from having those experiences can be valuable to others. I find that I learn much more about how an OS or a software application really works when something goes wrong than I do when everything works perfectly.
